FGM030a: The Wizard of the White Hills (Available Now)

FGM030a: The Wizard of the White Hills (Available Now)
I just put up a new "Tweak & Toss" over on my Patreon site and DriveThruRPG. It is a PWYW "mission" of sorts that is pretty much player-driven.

The idea is the party needs to access a Sage for advice and there just so happens to be a knowledgeable, and approachable, wizard that can do the job. He is just a hop, skip, and a jump away* and can try to answer just about any question (actually he can).

The whole idea actually sprang from an idea for a new "monster", which really wasn't needed in this Tweak & Toss and might be available later as some bonus content.

*Ok, more like a trek and a canoe ride, but still.....

d30 Challenge Day 15

d30 Challenge Day 15
This is my 15th entry in the d30 Challenge, which is a bastardization of an idea I first saw on Mark "CMG" Clover's feed. Now I'm a sucker for these things and I know some folks aren't so while I'm committed to answering one question about my favorite hobby each day, and putting together a d30 table before the end of the month, I know not everyone is so interested. I'll put the question & answer after the break, posting late in the day, and not promoting this on G+ so those who don't like this kind of thing should be exposed only minimally.

I think this is the best I can do....

Free GM Resource: DCC Game Aids from Purple Sorcerer Games

Free GM Resource: DCC Game Aids from Purple Sorcerer Games
After playing a couple of Dungeon Crawl Classics games for the 1st time at Origins, and trying my hand at a DCC Choose-Your-Own-Adventure, I figured I should throw out a freebie or two that is useful if you want to give the game a try for yourself.

Now you'll probably want an experienced DCC Gamemaster.....are the called GMs or Judges? I think it is "Judge", but this just shows my level of experience with DCC, but rolling up 0 Level PCs is something you can easily do ahead of time.

The folks over at Purple Sorcerer Games have a few awesome tools to get you started. Now you could just use the Quick Start Guide from Goodman Games, or you could just use the 0 Level Party Generator from Purple Sorcerer Games. They also have a pretty cool app called The Crawler's Companion that you might want to check out.

The app might seem complicated at first, but after watching some of the tutorial videos, maybe not so much. The more I see of the videos the more I wish we had a similar app for my main HackMaster game!

Free Map048: River of No Return

Free Map048: River of No Return
This is a set of two free maps, one with contours and one without, of a small section of the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness Area. I needed only a small section of the map ( a few square inches at best) for an upcoming Tweak &Toss, but decided to go nuts and make a HUGE map.

My Patrons get the full-size map(s) which are around 120MB in size and a whopping 30" x 45".

Frugal GM Review: The Hounds of Halthrag Keep

Frugal GM Review: The Hounds of Halthrag Keep
I picked up The Hounds of Halthrag Keep a couple weeks ago intending to play it on the plane ride to Origins in anticipation to what I thought would be my 1st ever Dungeon Crawl Classics game (I actually got two games in). Unfortunately while I was smart enough to bring my dice with me, I accidentally left the adventure at home.

It's probably just as well because I could totally see me tumbling my dice all over the cabin and losing some of them. Some of my dice are pretty much irreplaceable.

The Hounds of Halthrag Keep is a solo "choose-your-own-adventure" style product that tries to put a bit of a twist on the standard DCC 0-level funnel. The author, Noah M. Stevens, gives you everything you need to play and tweaks things a bit so you can have a solo 0-level funnel. There is a decent game mechanic in the game allowing you access to the information gained from previous (i.e. Dead) 0-level characters that had gone into the dungeon before.
