d30 Challenge Day 9

d30 Challenge Day 9
This is my 9th entry in the d30 Challenge, which is a bastardization of an idea I first saw on Mark "CMG" Clover's feed. Now I'm a sucker for these things and I know some folks aren't so while I'm committed to answering one question about my favorite hobby each day, and putting together a d30 table before the end of the month, I know not everyone is so interested. I'll put the question & answer after the break, posting late in the day, and not promoting this on G+ so those who don't like this kind of thing should be exposed only minimally.

I think this is the best I can do....
Day 9's question is "Favorite PC You'd Like to Play".

This is an odd question because I think it is asking which PC that belongs to somebody else I'd like to play and the answer is simply "none". I prefer playing my own PCs. Now I've had some great PCs, or at least I thought they were great, and I'd love to pick them up again. Two immediately come to mind, but even as I'm typing this I can think of several more....

The 1st would have to be my HackMaster 4th Edition Archer Waydol. He was my 1st PC for that system....well the 1st I created to play anyway, and I rolled him up alongside my wife who rolled up an Elven Cleric who was Waydol's wife. If this isn't sappy enough, we got to play our first two games together using these PCs and a con we attended...on our 1st wedding anniversary! I know what most of you are thinking......"She's a keeper!"

I couldn't agree more.

I loved playing Waydol as a bit of my personality crept into him, but he really developed his own "thing". I don't think a session went by where he didn't perform a called-shot to the nuts. Since this couple were largely tournament PCs and I had another PC, it was sometimes a year between games with these two (although each had adventures on their own). The start of one adventure was delayed in-game a week because it'd been a LONG time since Waydol and Elara had really seen each other and they had some "catching up" to do. I still remember Bethany (another player) rolling her eyes at the prospect we'd be in town another week because Waydol demanded alone time with the Mrs.

Anyone who has spent some time deployed know exactly where I'm coming from.....

My other PC was a short-lived (as in game, not the character) Halfling Thief named Sasha. She was a butcher by trade and her primary weapon was a Kukri. While I was not inspired by the Drangonlance's Kender, Sasha had a bit of a child-like curiosity and was just as blunt as the average 5 year old. She had some skills, but the fun was more in the "roleplay" of that game instead of the "roll-play", which is not what I'm used to in D&D 3.5.

I went out of my way to get a great mini and even one of her goat mount. I didn't even get to paint them before the game ended.
